Leadership and Challenge

Sports Tuition conducts school camp programs at Alex Park specialising in leadership and team development. Outdoor elements include high ropes, rock-climbing, surf-awareness, archery, fishing, raft-building and canoeing. Indoor activities include a variety of individual and team building communication and cooperation challenges.

The experienced staff at Sports Tuition hold relevant qualifications for all activities, current first aid and a Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue card).

Sports Tuition collaborates with your school camp coordinator to design an activity program which promotes fun, fitness, resilience and confidence; building relationships through team work to ensure curriculum outcomes are achieved.

Sports Tuition also caters for leadership groups. Activities are designed to promote individual growth, leadership skills and team building through physical and mental challenges. Taking your team out of their comfort zone develops individual confidence whilst working together as a team builds trust and stronger relationships.

Sports Tuition was established in 2001. Managing Director Steve Wilkes has 15 years of classroom teaching experience and nearly 20 years of experience facilitating educational activity programs. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Teaching, a Bachelor of Education and a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation, Steve is a keen angler and holds a Coxswain NC Certificate. He is a popular guest speaker and has written for a variety of publications as well as appearing on television fishing programs.

Character Builders is a vibrant team building and leadership consultancy notorious for facilitating wonderful camps. Our offerings are innovative and targeted towards meeting the needs of 21st Century Learners and Educators. Whether it’s on the beach or around the grounds at Alex Park we provide genuine opportunities for students (yr 3-12) and staff to connect through our fun, inclusive, meaningful day and night experiences and full camp programs.
