Just an hour north of Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast is one of Australia’s premier beach holiday locations for those seeking a relaxing retreat or an energising getaway. The villages along the coast provide a cornucopia of pristine beaches, walking tracks, cafes and shopping— all embedded in friendly local communities.

Lots to see and do on the Sunshine Coast

The region is also home to major sporting competitions and events such as the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Running Festival, the Walk for Women’s Cancers and the Velothon Sunshine Coast.

There are local markets, surf and dive schools, art galleries and the Queensland Garden Expo.

Discover Alexandra Headland

Alexandra Headland (or Alex Heads as the locals call it) is one of the most beautiful spots along the coast—a mecca for surfers, swimmers and those who simply want to stroll along the wide, golden beach. It is the home of the Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club (which is directly opposite the Alexandra Park Conference Centre).

The Alex Bluff Foreshore Park (Churinga Park) is a special place, stretching for a kilometre along the headland with multiple picnic shelters and lookouts. It includes the HMAS Brisbane Memorial, the Korean War Memorial and the Australian War Dog Memorial.

For teenagers, the refurbished Alex Skate Park is one of the most popular skate parks in Queensland. The park is used by skaters, BMX riders and bladers of all skill levels.

With world-class attractions such as Australia Zoo and Sea Life Sunshine Coast, there’s plenty to do for children, young people, retirees and families.
